Anger is normal, but intense anger takes a toll on you and the people around you. This 21-item test, based on the Clinical Anger Scale (CAS), rates how much anger you are carrying right now. About 5 minutes.

How Heavy Is Your Anger Right Now?

Everyone gets angry. The question this test asks is different: how intense are your anger and hostility *at this moment*?

It is based on the Clinical Anger Scale (CAS): 21 items, each with four graded statements, from "I do not feel angry" to anger you can hardly stand. Pick the one closest to how you feel right now.

Reading Your Score

The total score is computed from responses. Higher scores indicate more anger.

In the original study, college students averaged about 10, so most people are not angry most of the time. If your score lands at 32 or above, it is worth taking seriously and talking to someone.

A Note

This is a self-assessment, not a clinical diagnosis. If anger leads to urges to hurt yourself or others, contact a mental health professional or a local crisis line right away.
