General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE)
General Self-Efficacy — How Confident Are You?
Can you handle unexpected problems, or do they throw you off? The GSE measures how confident you are in your ability to deal with difficult situations. 10 items, 4-point scale, about 3 minutes.
Can You Handle What Comes Your Way?
The General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE) measures something straightforward: how confident you are that you can deal with difficult situations. Not whether you actually can - whether you believe you can. And that belief matters, because people who think they can handle things tend to try harder and bounce back faster.
Schwarzer and Jerusalem created the original in German (1979) and the English version followed in 1995. It has been used in 23 countries.
