Six love attitudes: Eros Ludus Storge Pragma Mania Agape.

What Are Love Styles?

Not everyone loves the same way. Lee (1973) proposed that love comes in six colors -- three primary styles that blend into three secondary ones, like a color wheel.

The Love Attitudes Scale measures how you approach relationships along these six styles.

The Six Styles

  • Eros -- passionate, intense, physical. Love at first sight resonates here.
  • Ludus -- playful, casual. Love is a game, not a commitment.
  • Storge -- friendship-based. Love grows slowly from shared history.
  • Mania -- possessive, dependent, jealous. Emotional highs and lows.
  • Agape -- selfless, giving. Putting your partner's needs first.
  • Pragma -- practical, logical. Looking for compatibility in lifestyle and goals.
7 items per style, 42 total.

What It's Used For

  • Relationship counseling to understand partner differences
  • Research on attachment and relationship satisfaction
  • Self-reflection on patterns in romantic history
> This is a relationship attitudes measure, not a diagnostic tool. No scale is "better" or "worse" -- they describe different approaches.
