What Is the Utrecht Gender Dysphoria Scale – Gender Spectrum (UGDS-GS)?
The Utrecht Gender Dysphoria Scale – Gender Spectrum (UGDS-GS), revised by McGuire et al. (2020), is an 18-item measure of gender dysphoria designed with gender-neutral language suitable for individuals of all gender identities.
Two Dimensions
1. Gender Dysphoria (14 items): Distress related to the incongruence between assigned sex at birth and gender identity 2. Gender Affirmation (4 items): Positive feelings related to gender expression and recognition of one's gender identity
Scoring
Items are rated on a 5-point Likert scale. Dimension scores provide insight into both the distress and positive aspects of gender identity experience.
