How strong is your sexual desire, and where does it show up? The SDI-2 separates desire into two dimensions: wanting sex with a partner and wanting it alone. 14 items, 3 minutes.

What Is the Sexual Desire Inventory-2 (SDI-2)?

The SDI-2 measures sexual desire across two dimensions: dyadic (partner-focused) and solitary (self-focused). Spector, Carey & Steinberg (1996) built it as a 14-item self-report form.

Two Dimensions

1. Dyadic Sexual Desire (9 items): Interest in or desire for sexual activity with a partner — including initiation, receptivity, and preferred frequency 2. Solitary Sexual Desire (5 items): Interest in engaging in sexual behavior by oneself, including masturbation and sexual fantasy

Scoring

Items use various response scales. Dyadic desire items include both frequency and intensity ratings. Solitary desire items focus on frequency and strength of desire. Each dimension produces a separate score.
