Sexual Excitation/Inhibition Scale
Sexual Excitation/Sexual Inhibition Inventory — 30 questions, 6 factors
What turns you on, and what turns you off? The SESII-WM measures your sexual excitation and inhibition patterns. 30 items, about 10-15 minutes.
Do you get aroused easily, or do you need everything just right?
Some people are quick to arousal. Others need the right partner, mood, setting, and about three good nights of sleep. Where you fall on that spectrum isn't random — it's about your excitation-inhibition balance.
SESII-W/M measures your sexual excitation and inhibition propensity in about 5 minutes. It's based on the Dual Control Model, which says sexual response depends on the balance between excitatory and inhibitory systems — and people differ in how sensitive each system is.
Six Factors
1. Inhibitory Cognitions (8 items) — thoughts and worries that dampen arousal 2. Relationship Importance (5 items) — how much relationship context matters 3. Arousability (5 items) — how easily you get aroused 4. Partner Characteristics (5 items) — traits in a partner that affect arousal 5. Environmental Factors (4 items) — situational conditions that matter 6. Dyadic Interaction (3 items) — how interaction affects excitation
